Updating and Upgrading, in the context of this manual, are different. An update means transitioning from one version of ppSD2 to a newer version. Upgrading means transitioning from previous models of the Password Protector series of scripts, such as AdPass or Password Protector SD v1.3.
Manually Updating
You can perform the update yourself by following these steps:

- Run the database updater from your web browser:
- Delete the "ppSD2/setup" directory if it is present on your server.
- In the event that the updated could not update the paths on your files, you will need to manually edit the following files, replacing the $FSP = "%%path%%"; line with the correct absolute path to the ppSD2 folder:
- Example: $FSP = "path"; becomes $FSP = "/correct/full/server/path/to/ppSD2";
- /ppSD2/admin/cron/cron_overview.php

Upgrading from Password Protector v1.3
Due to the extent of the changes made between Password Protector v1.3 and ppSD2, an automated upgrade utility is not possible. We do apologize for the inconvenience.
If you wish to purchase a professional upgrade, this can be done by clicking here.
During this process we perform the following steps:
- Install ppSD2 into a new MySQL database
- Transfer your ppSD v1.* user database
- Transfer your database fields
- Transfer current secure areas over to the ppSD2 system
- Transfer your registration forms to the new system
- Transfer your product catalog to the new system
We will not be able to transfer your options of templates over to ppSD2.
Requirements for an Upgrade
In order to upgrade you from Password Protector v1.3 to ppSD2, you will need to create a 2nd MySQL database into which ppSD2 can be installed.
Upgrading from AdPass
AdPass being so old, this process is extremely complex and involves first upgrading you from AdPass to Password Protector SD v1.3, and then from that program to ppSD2. The purchase of two upgrades is required.
