Secure Folders

ppSD2 Product Manual » Secure Content » Secure Folders

A secure folder is a folder on your website that a user will need to be logged in to view. You can secure as many folders as you wish and control who has access to each using access granters.

Securing a Folder

From the admin control panel:

  • Manage > Secure an Area

Follow the on-screen directions.

No Access Page

Note that this page should always be located outside of the folder you are securing. We also recommend that it contain a link to the login page.

User Groups

User Groupings are like secure areas, in that they group users together in the database, however unlike secure areas, they do not actually secure a folder on your server. User groupings and secure areas both make sorting and e-mailing users matching specific criteria easier.

To create a user group, simply select "Protection Type = User Grouping" when creating a secure area.

Potential Issues

Write Permissions Errors

If you receive an error that the security file could not be written, set the permissions on the folder to 777 and try again.

Secure Folders Within Secure Folders

We do not recommend placing one secure folder within another secure folder. Doing this could cause issues if a user has access to one folder but not another.

CMS Integrations

If you are using a CMS such as Wordpress, we recommend creating "User Groupings" and then adding the appropriate CMS code onto your CMS's index file. Click here for information on CMS integrations.
