Products allow you to sell access to content and/or physical products.

Non-Physical Products

Non-physical means that the item exists only online and will not be shipped.

Single Purchase Products

These products are a one-time fee. No subscription is created and the user will not be charged again.

Subscription Products

These products are recurring, meaning that the user will be charged at a regular interval (established in the "Recurring Timeframe" field) for the duration of his/her subscription.

  • Max Renewals: This field allows you to limit how many times the subscription will be charged. If set to 5, the subscription will be canceled after the 5th regular interval charge is successful.

Trial Products

A trial product is a subscription product with an initial price that is different from the standard recurring price. Therefore a product with "Trail Price" of $100 and a "Price" of $50 will initially charge the user $100 and then when the trial period ("Trial Length" field) is over, start charging the user $50 at a regular interval established in the "Recurring Timeframe" field.

Physical Products

When creating a product, select "Physical Product" under "Product Specifications". You will also be able to input a product weight. The measurement unit is generic, meaning you are not fixed to pounds or kilos. This allows you the flexibility to input weight as you wish and then create shipping rules around your selected weight measurements. "Stock Qty" allows you to specify how many are in stock. The program will automatically decrease this as units are purchased and won't sell the product if there isn't enough stock.

The program will automatically detect if a physical product is in the cart and collect the user's shipping information at checkout. Please note that you must establish shipping rules if you are selling physical products:

  • "Settings > Payment Gateway" > Shipping Options

Access Granters

All products are access granters, meaning that when they are purchased, the user purchasing can be granted access to content. The content that each product grants access to is established in the following sections when creating a product:

  • Secure Area Access
  • Newsletter Subscriptions
  • Digital Product Access

Each product also has a "timeframe" which controls when the user will lose access to the content. If the user's account's expiration date is set farther in the future than the product's timeframe, a "Scheduled Expiration" will be established that will automatically remove access to the content from the user's account.

Attribute Products

An attribute product is a product that doesn't appear in the standard catalog but rather one that appears within another product's "Product Page". The program will only allow users to add attribute products to their carts from this location.

Creating an Attribute Product

First create the primary product under which the attribute product will be classified from "Shopping Cart > Add a Product". Once created, click the "Create Attribute Product" icon next to the primary product on the "Shopping Cart > List Products" screen.

Product Dependencies

Product dependencies are requirements for specific products. Possible requirements are:

  • Field Rules: Require user submit one or more form fields when a product is purchased.
  • Fields will be processed after the order is completed.
  • Product Rules: Automatically adds a product to the cart when another product is added.
  • Products will be added to the cart when the selected product is added.
  • Requirement Rule: Requires that a specific product be in the user's cart before he/she can add another specific product to his/her cart.
  • The program will detect if the user has purchased the dependent product in the past of if the user has it in his/her cart when the user attempts to add the product into his/her cart. If the product hasn't been added, ppSD2 will allow the user to add the products together with 1 click.

Creating Dependencies

To create a dependency, go to "Shopping Cart > List Products" and click the "Dependencies" icon next to the product you wish to create the dependency for.
